Mike H Shields
Pasadena Rockiní Comic Con
Iíve mentioned, ok, tweeted that Iíd be covering this event for this fine publication that opens today at 2pm at The Pasadena Convention Center, as I thought I had already received my press pass. However, I come to find that I was supposed to write an article about it as well.
In an effort to meet all the requirements for me to get in free, I shall indeed do so. It may even be this article, however, as Iíve stated, Iíve tweeted at least twice before. I have over 4000 followers on Twitter, and some of them might even be interested in attending. Why should you?
The draw for me is 5 hours with Stan Lee. Say what you want about Marvel comics or the company itself, Stan is the Man. I could mention all the characters heís created or helped co-create to pad my word count, but I donít have to do that. In my not so humble opinion, heís singlehandedly responsible for not only creating the Marvel Universe, but for making comics cool for us adults to read as well.
Of course, I wouldnít recommend spending all five hours with him; thereís lots more to see and do over the three days. Having walked the exhibit hall for another function there recently, I can tell you that it shouldnít take long to walk the entire convention floor, to visit your favorite artists, writers, and companies that will be present. Thereís even a masquerade!
So, if I havenít convinced you to pack up all your things, and fly out to Pasadena on a momentís notice, I donít think I ever will, however, if youíve never been to a comic book convention before, this looks like it would be a good first time experience for you and the whole family. But only if you like reading, and looking at incredible art. I know I do.
72 and sunny in Redondo Beach. But Iíll be in Pasadena.
